Spiritual Care Association's Assemblies of God Statement

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, October 15, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Spiritual Care Association has, since its inception, fully supported the concept of faith group endorsement when it was a fit for the context and culture of an individual faith group and if that faith group was willing to provide a process that served to continually support and enhance the ministry of their chaplains rather than simply providing them with a letter documenting that the chaplain is in good standing with the faith group. We are now very pleased to express our full support and backing of the endorsement relationship the Assemblies of God has with its chaplains.

In expressing this support, we highlight several defining characteristics of the Assemblies of God process:

-- Accountability both by the chaplain to the Assemblies of God and by the Assemblies of God to the chaplain. This mutual accountability is represented by a clear and rigorous set of standards for endorsement administered through a clear and fair process, a clear and professional code of ethics, a requirement for continuing education but also a commitment to make that education readily available to the chaplain

-- The Assemblies of God have a strong commitment to competent outcome-oriented practice both in their training and in their endorsement programs which aligns well with current practice in professional chaplaincy and with SCA values.

-- The Assemblies of God is committed to a collegial and cooperative relationship with certifying bodies marked by communication around a common mission and ministry and quality spiritual care for all we serve. They are committed to communication regarding processes that support professional chaplaincy and add value to those we both serve.

We fully support and highly recommend the Assemblies of God endorsement process and ongoing support provided to their chaplains. We strongly commend this process to all Assemblies of God chaplains seeking certification with the SCA. We look forward to a growing partnership with the Assemblies of God in the service to those in need of chaplaincy services and in the support of Assemblies of God chaplains.
