Route 885 Bates Street Overnight Closures for Waterline Replacement Begins Monday Night in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing overnight closures on Route 885 (Bates Street) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will begin Monday night, June 1 weather permitting.
Bates Street will close to traffic between Second Avenue and the Boulevard of the Allies weeknights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late July for waterline replacement work. Additionally, the I-376 ramps to and from Bates Street will close to traffic overnights. All traffic will be detoured.

Follow the Boulevard of the Allies eastbound
The Boulevard of the Allies becomes Panther Hollow Road
Turn right onto Greenfield Road and cross the Greenfield Bridge
Continue straight onto Ronald Street
Turn right onto Greenfield Avenue
Continue straight onto Second Avenue
Follow Second Avenue back to Bates Street

Southbound Route 885 to Eastbound I-376
Follow the Boulevard of the Allies eastbound
The Boulevard of the Allies becomes Panther Hollow Road
Turn right onto Greenfield Road and cross the Greenfield Bridge
Turn left onto Beechwood Boulevard
Turn left onto the ramp to Eastbound 376 toward Monroeville

Northbound Route 885 to Eastbound I-376
Follow Second Avenue (Route 885) southbound
Continue straight onto Greenfield Avenue
Turn left onto Ronald Street
Turn right onto Beechwood Boulevard
Turn left onto the ramp to Eastbound 376 toward Monroeville

Westbound (Inbound) I-376 to Bates Street (Northbound 885)
Continue on westbound (inbound) I-376 past the closed exit
Take the Grant Street (Exit 71) off-ramp
From Grant Street, turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies
Follow the Boulevard of the Allies back to Bates Street

The work includes the replacement of two existing waterlines, service line and fire hydrant connections, and inlet repairs. Crews from Independent Enterprises, Inc. will conduct the work for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority.
