Hoyer Statement on Rep. Dave Loebsack's Decision to Not Seek Re-Election

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after Rep. Dave Loebsack (IA-02) announced he will not run for re-election in 2020:

"I have been proud to serve alongside Rep. Dave Loebsack in the House for the past twelve years.  He is a trusted colleague and friend.  He has been a champion for Iowa working families, seniors, students, veterans, and small businesses, working hard to ensure that Congress invests in access to affordable education and skills training, supports organized labor, and keeps faith with those who served our country in uniform.  The people of southeastern Iowa have been so fortunate to have Rep. Loebsack as their voice in Washington.  I will be sad to see him leave Congress, but I wish him and his wife Terry all the best as he prepares to step down at the end of this term.  I thank him for his service to Iowa, to the House, and to our country."
