TOPEKA, KANSAS, UNITED STATES, August 29, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Ticket sales for the 2018 Gala supporting Aviation Explorer Squadron 8 are officially available to the public. The local aviation group announced today that they hope to raise $30,000 during the fundraiser to purchase a new plane for the 65 year old organization as they have been using the same CESSNA 150, and Cherokee 180 airplanes for over 40 years.— Stephen Osborne
The Aviation Explorer Squadron was originally founded to help students achieve their pilots license for a very minimal cost to them.
Board of Directors Stephen Osborne states: “I was fortunate to have been a member when I was in high school, and attribute my success as a pilot to what I learned in the program. This organization really gave me a lot of leadership experience that I would not have had without it.”
Andrew Talbott, a strike fighter pilot for the United States Navy and former member of the Blue Angels, will be the featured speaker at the 2018 Gala & Fundraiser. Talbott, of Hanford, California, has accumulated more than 3600 flight hours and has 335 Carrier arrested landings. His decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal, a Strike Flight Air Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various personal and unit awards. He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
The 2018 Aviation Gala will be held on September 8th from 5pm-9pm, and hosted by Vaerus Aviation at Forbes Field. For tickets or more information, visit here.
