Gazprom Neft refuels more than 13,000 flights for fans and participants at this year’s FIFA 2018 World Cup

Gazpromneft-Aero, operator of the Gazprom Neft aviation refuelling business, provided refuelling services to scheduled, charter and private flights at international airports in the five host cities of the FIFA2018 World Cup in Russia, refuelling more than 13,000 planes throughout the tournament at Sheremetyevo (Moscow), Pulkovo (St Petersburg), Khrabrovo (Kaliningrad), Koltsovo (Ekaterinburg), and Saransk. Total refuelling volumes throughout these airports reached 140,000 tonnes, with average daily refuelling volumes up 15 percent.

Extensive special tactical emergency prevention and response training was held at all Gazpromneft-Aero refuelling facilities prior to the start of the championship, with company representatives present at regional company inter-departmental headquarters for the duration of the World Cup. Company specialists and aviation refuelling staff from Pskov, Tver, Ryazan, Saratov and Chelyabinsk were also involved in refuelling operations at airports in World Cup host cities.

Vladimir Egorov, CEO, Gazpromneft-Aero, commented:

“The FIFA 2018 World Cup was a milestone event for our country, and we are proud of our contribution to making the tournament so well run. There was a significant increase in the number of flights between Russian cities and international destinations during the tournament. Thanks to the use of cutting-edge equipment and technologies — matching the highest IATA safety standards for aviation refuelling — we were able to increase the speed of refuelling operations and reduce turnaround times at the World Cup host cities. Gazpromneft-Aero has gained unique experience in operating during a world-class event, and is committed to developing partnerships with air carriers in Russia and abroad.”
