Best Commercial Project of 2018

SIPA's annual Building Excellence Awards, highlight exceptional design & performance of new buildings utilizing structural insulated panel building envelopes.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, USA, June 11, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The 15th Annual Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) Building Excellence Awards were announced during the association’s 2018 Annual Meeting & Conference in Jacksonville, Florida. This year’s panel of judges included Ron Jones, Green Builder Magazine; Chris Fennell, COO at Institute for Building Technology and Safety; and Sam Rashkin, Chief Architect with the DOE and the Zero Energy Ready Home Program. The projects were scored four criteria including how the use of structural insulated panels (SIPs) resulted in design and structural engineering innovation; creative use of SIP construction; and overall environmental sustainability. An additional High-Performance category was included for Residential projects based on their use of SIPs to achieve exceptional energy efficiency as quantified by HERS Index and other supporting data.

ABOUT SIPA

The Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) is a 501c6 non-profit association dedicated to increasing the use and acceptance of structural insulated panels (SIPs) in sustainable building by providing an industry forum for promotion, communication, education, quality assurance, and technical and marketing research. SIPs are a high performance, panelized building system that offers superior thermal performance, air tightness, and durability for energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings.

Builders and design professionals seeking to reduce energy use and minimize the carbon footprint of their buildings utilize SIPs as a cost-effective solution for exterior wall and roof systems that also cuts down on framing time, significantly reduces construction waste, and ensures greater jobsite quality control through prefabrication. SIPs are an enabling technology to meet to the Architecture 2030 Challenge for net-zero, carbon neutral buildings today. Learn more at www.sips.org.
