IMF Statement on Ecuador

Staff from the IMF met with Minister of the Economy and Finance, Richard Martinez; the general manager of the Central Bank, Veronica Artola; the Minister of Oil, Mining and Energy, Carlos Perez; and the Vice Minister of Economy, Santiago Caviedes in Washington DC today. The meeting offered an opportunity to discuss macro-economic issues and the avenues of cooperation between the IMF and the authorities of Ecuador, including the forthcoming Article IV consultation and support to develop capacity in a range of technical areas identified by the authorities.
The IMF team was encouraged by the positive and constructive dialogue with the Ecuadorian authorities and looks forward to a continued collaborative relationship.
