HOUSTON, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, June 8, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Annella Metoyer is the author of Dare to Be the Change, published in February of this year, and Stronger Than Fear, a children’s book set for release July 10th.

“It was just writing the emotions of what I had gone through,” says Annella. “It was just pouring out who I am. I wanted readers to see what I had lived through and the strength that I found through these experiences.”

Dare to Be the Change chronicles the adversities Annella faced as a woman and a person of color over her 40 years in the corporate banking world.

“When I started in banking, women did not have a voice in the room,” says Annella. “As a person of color, I definitely didn’t have a voice in the room. I felt that I needed to be the voice to open the doors for other people, no matter the person’s nationality, gender or religious beliefs. I was determined because I wanted to pave the way, to open doors for individuals that may not otherwise have the opportunity.”

Annella says she started in banking stamping addresses on envelopes and ended her career as president for one of the top five corporate banks in the fourth-largest city in the United States. Still, Annella faced discrimination from coworkers and customers.

“One of the questions I get asked all the time is: Has that been an advantage or a disadvantage?’ It’s both. Unfortunately, you get to know how people really feel about people. So you have to take that opportunity to help people see things in a different light. That is what the story tells through my career of 40 years.”

As an executive coach, Annella incorporates her stories to help her clients understand that while they are faced with adversity, ultimately, they will emerge stronger.

“My whole career. I was the person who was going to stand for the right change,” says Annella. “The one thing I've always done is look for ways to help others, because ultimately, it's really about helping people tap into themselves to find the strength to overcome anything.”
