The Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce announces honorees for annual gala during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

AUSTIN, TX, US, April 6, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that its 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree is Dr. Lisa Su, CEO of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). This is the highest award that we give out annually and will be presented at Ovation on May 18, 2018.

Each year, GAACC recognizes Asian business leaders, companies and organizations that have made significant contributions to the local economy or welfare of the Asian Pacific American community. GAAAC’s highest individual honor is the Lifetime Achievement Award. Past recipients of this award include Sada Cumber, special envoy to the OIC and entrepreneur, The Honorable Norman Mineta, former Transportation Secretary, William Wang, Founder and CEO of VIZIO Inc, Manoj Saxena, Founding Partner of The Entrepreneurs’ Fund and The Honorable Christopher Lu, former Deputy Secretary of the Department of Labor.

Dr. Su is a Taiwanese American has a PhD in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was appointed president and CEO of AMD in 2014. Dr. Su has lead AMD’s strong revenue growth by streamlining product lines, diversification into non-PC products, and development of new technology. “With women being at the forefront of many issues, we are delighted that this powerful woman in technology is our award winner this year” said Ahmed Moledina, CEO of SOAL Technologies and chair of the planning committee for Ovation 2018.

The Honorary Chair of Ovation 2018 is Mayor Steve Adler and the presenting sponsor is Pearlstone Partners. The event will take place at the JW Marriott Austin and includes a cocktail reception, awards program, and entertainment. Ovation is held in May to celebrate Asian Pacific American (APA) Heritage month. The APA community is the fastest growing demographic not just in Central Texas, but nationally. It makes up over 8 percent of the City of Austin.
