BAE Systems to exhibit cutting edge Mission Planning System, Sceptre, for the first time yet

SMi reports: BAE Systems to exhibit cutting edge Mission Planning System, Sceptre

LONDON, WATERLOO, UNITED KINGDOM, March 23, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- With just 4 weeks to go until SMi's 9th annual Air Mission Planning & Support conference, taking place in London on 17th and 18th April 2018, SMi would like to provide insight into Gold Sponsor, BAE Systems and what they will be exhibiting in this year's exhibition space.
BAE Systems will be exhibiting Sceptre for the first time ever at Air Mission Planning and Support 2018. Sceptre is an Advanced Mission Planning System offering a state of the art combined Mission Planning & Debriefing system as a critical aid to improved command and control, influence and success in the battlefield arena.

Sceptre is the portal to the huge amounts of information contained within the Operational Mission Support Environment, allowing pilots and planners to work rapidly and accurately armed with a mission planning and support tool which is capable of managing complex operations while presenting complex information in a simple manner that is easy to manipulate, so that operators can gain clarity in this data rich world.

Visit BAE System's website for more details.

In the run-up to the event, SMi Group caught up with Louise Aiken, Head of Mission Planning Programmes, BAE Systems to discuss current developments, priorities and the upcoming event. See snapshot below. Visit www.airmissionplanning.co.uk/einpr to download the full interview.

What is BAE Systems doing to enhance Air Mission Planning and Support?

BAE Systems is working towards an integrated, interoperable approach to Mission Planning and Support. We recognise the difficulty in maintaining concurrency of multiple stand-alone products and the importance of assured data and a continuous digital thread through Operational Mission Support. To enable this, we are moving away from a traditional stand-alone Mission Planning application towards a Mission Data Portal. We are also empowering our customers to enhance capability through development of a Sceptre Software Development Kit to enable interoperation with some third-party applications.

What are the key areas for development in Air Mission Planning domain?

With the introduction of E-Scan radar and other advances in aircraft technology, harnessing and exploiting big data is a key development focus. Within BAE Systems, we are currently working closely with Human Factors specialists to create a new, highly intuitive and optimised Human Machine Interface on Sceptre to reduce load on the user and provide an efficient and user-friendly planning experience.

At the two-day conference Ms Louise Aiken at BAE Systems will present:
"Operational Training & Mission Support – Integration, Interoperation, and the Digital Thread"
• Integration and interoperation of support products and services
• Turn left/Turn right: training and flying with identical data
• Enabling future growth and capability through modular architecture
