NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, December 29, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Spirit of Malabo, a Brazilian built ocean rowboat that traversed the Atlantic Ocean by Don Victor Mooney of Queens on his fourth try from the coast of Africa to New York's Brooklyn Bridge for AIDS awareness and to memorialize his African ancestors that died during the transatlantic slave trade has evolved into a national treasure.

The Spirit of Malabo arrived in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea aboard MCP ADAMAS container ship at 11:25 EST on December 28.

The historic vessel left Brooklyn, New York in late October and will be on permanent exhibition at Modern Museum of Equatorial Guinea. Spirit of Malabo was sponsored by the Government of Equatorial Guinea with the personal support of H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo – Head of State.

Among other things, Equatorial Guinea has emerged into one of Africa's fastest growing economies, luring foreign direct investments. The country takes a seat on January 1, 2018 at the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for a two-year term. The year 2018 will also bring huge commemorations & development projects to mark there 50th anniversary of independence.
