Contract for manufacturing import-substituting gas compressors signed with MashTEK

Release

Vitaly Markelov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Sergey Raichuk, Director for Strategic Development of the MashTEK R&D Company (MashTEK), today signed at the 7th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum a long-term contract for the mass production, supply, maintenance, servicing and repair of import-substituting products in the amount equal to guaranteed future purchases.

In accordance with the document, KOSMA Compressor Plant (a subsidiary of MashTEK) will launch the manufacture of gas compressor units (GCUs) based on in-house reciprocating compressors with a capacity ranging from 100 to 4,000 kW and will supply them to Gazprom. The first batch of such products is to be delivered in 2019. In 2020, the company will increase the share of domestic components in the GCUs to 100 per cent.

Gazprom uses small- and medium-capacity GCUs, most of which are made abroad, at gas production, transportation and storage facilities, mobile compressor units, and CNG filling stations. Reciprocating compressors with a capacity of 1,000 to 4,000 kW are currently out of production in Russia.

Cooperation with MashTEK will allow Gazprom to significantly reduce its reliance on foreign suppliers with regard to this type of product.

Background

The 7th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is being held as part of the Energy Efficiency and Energy Development International Forum 'Russian Energy Week.'

KOSMA Compressor Plant is the leading manufacturer of compressor equipment and off-the-shelf compressor-based solutions for various industries in Russia and the CIS.

In October 2015, Gazprom launched a new collaboration scheme for Russian manufacturers based on long-term contracts for the batch production, supply and extensive maintenance of import-substituting products in the amount equal to guaranteed future purchases at a price not exceeding the value of foreign equivalents. Thanks to long-term contracts, suppliers have a predictable amount of orders, while Gazprom receives high-quality products at competitive prices.

Similar contracts were signed earlier with TMK, Tomsk Machine-Building Technologies, Trubodetal (a subsidiary of United Metallurgical Company), Salavat Catalyst Plant, HMS Group, and Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant.
