Gabriela Durán noticed that Latin American fashion designers were turning out amazing products, but no one outside their countries knew anything about it.

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- She founded Boca Ciega to change that. The online jewelry, clothing and accessories store is constantly looking for unknown designers and those who are just now developing an international reputation.

“In my early 20s, I started to travel around the world and noticed that other Latin American countries had similar fashion tendencies to the ones I had been exposed to while growing up in Puerto Rico. Although they had access to different materials, all Latin American countries I visited had a common design inspiration: the Latina woman,” she said. “The way they used natural materials to create stunning works of art just amazed me.”

While some of the current crop of designers may be familiar, some of the names certainly are not. That’s exactly what Gabriela wants to do with the shop.

“I am trying to bring attention to the native cultures and the native designers. They deserve to have the world know what they create. Haute couture is not confined to Paris, Milan or New York,” she said.

The selections at Boca Ciega are constantly changing as Gabriela moves merchandise out for the new seasons and the new designers.

“We want to stay fresh. We want to stay current and we want to give even more designers the chance to present their creations to the world at large,” she said. “The only way to do that is to keep the stock moving.”
