TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, May 2, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Justin Trudeau Responds to Call of Dr.A.Q.Rana, Founder of World Parkinson’s Program
TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA. May 2, 2017. On April 11, World Parkinson’s Day, the founder of World Parkinson’s Program, Dr. Abdul Qayyum Rana, called upon more than one hundred world leaders to help raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease in their respective countries and regions. Dr.Rana wrote personal letters these leaders, and many celebrities, requesting them to support the cause of Parkinson’s disease. Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada, responded to the request of Dr.Rana, and assigned the minister of health, Jane Philpott, to address this matter. The Minister of Health is responsible for maintaining and improving the health of Canadians. The founder of World Parkinson’s Program is hoping to hear from the health minister, and is expecting a positive response in the near future.
This campaign of World Parkinson’s Program aims to enhance education amongst the general public about the debilitating effects of Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Rana, in his letters to world leaders, had also alarmed world authorities about the rising number of Parkinson’s patients globally, and encouraged them to increase resources as well. There are about 100, 000 Canadians affected with Parkinson’s disease and more than 10 million people affected globally, in addition to the many undiagnosed cases of Parkinson’s. This number may double by 2031. Many of these individuals are living in poverty in various parts of world, and are not able to afford medications and walking aids. They also don’t have access to educational literature about Parkinson’s in the languages they understand. In many cultures, symptoms of Parkinson’s disease are wrongly attributed to ageing, and therefore many patients remain undiagnosed and thus untreated.
World Parkinson's Program believes that a campaign involving world leaders will have a global impact on the cause of Parkinson’s disease. World Parkinson’s Program is a Canadian based charitable organization dedicated to improving the daily lives of Parkinson’s patients and their access to better treatment for Parkinson’s at a global level.
World Parkinson’s Program is the only organization which provides medications, walking aids, and educational literature about Parkinson’s disease in more than 20 languages, which are used in almost 50 countries. World Parkinson’s Program was founded in 2008, and has chapters in many countries across the globe.
