LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, April 24, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- LOS ANGELES------April 24, 2017------ The Los Angeles Conservation Corps announces its Annual Spring Luncheon celebration to benefit the Corps and the Russell Kantor Next Steps Fund.

The celebration will take place Wednesday, May 10, 2017, from 11:30AM- 1:30PM at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion located at 135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. As part of the celebration, the Corps will honor AECOM and its Chairman and CEO, Mike Burke, with its Corps Spirit Award. The award recognizes AECOM’s commitment to sustainability in the innovative solutions it delivers to clients and communities around the world, as well as for the company’s investment and civic involvement in Los Angeles and the greater Southern California region.
“We’re honored to receive this year’s Corps Spirit Award from LA Conservation Corps, which has done so much for the youth and community of Los Angeles,’’ Burke said. “The Corps inspires us through its efforts to improve and sustain our city, and in creating opportunities for our youth.’’

Since joining in 2005, Burke has been instrumental in the evolution of AECOM from a private company with approximately 24,000 employees to a public company with 87,000 employees. Headquartered in Los Angeles, AECOM has helped shape the L.A. skyline and urban landscape. It is currently involved in a range of marquee, local projects that include Metropolis in Downtown Los Angeles and the LA Stadium at Hollywood Park. AECOM is also an important partner in supporting the L.A. bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

For more than 30 years, the LA Conservation Corps has been a pillar in the community as a youth development organization, successfully transforming thousands of lives and enhancing communities by educating, training and employing at-risk young adults through their participation in conservation and beautification projects across Los Angeles. A cornerstone of the organization’s youth development mission has been education. Presenting deserving Corpsmembers and alumni with awards from the Russell Kantor Next Steps Fund is a great honor and will enable these young people to have the bright future they deserve.

“Serving our Corpsmembers is our highest priority,” stated Wendy Butts, Chief Executive Officer for the LA Conservation Corps. “Every day, we strive to remove barriers to their success by providing opportunities for our youth to hone their skills, develop a strong work ethic, and build confidence. This event is our chance to shine a light on them and to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments.”
