ELY, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM, March 2, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Information security expert Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, will speak and deliver a workshop at the 10th Annual Nordic GRC Summit, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The GRC Summit aims to provide businesses with an overview of the current cyber threats, best practices in information security and changes in data protection laws. Over the course of two days, experts in the industry will discuss the challenges GRC and IT security functions are facing, as well as the steps businesses will need to take to prepare for May 2018, when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force.

Alan Calder said: “I’m delighted to be attending the 10th Annual Nordic GRC Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark. I look forward to speaking on data protection and cyber security and presenting my workshop, which will help businesses understand the key requirements for the new data protection Regulation.”

“With the GDPR coming into force in May 2018 bringing increased fines for data breaches, organisations worldwide can no longer afford to ignore European data protection law.”

On 15 March 2017, from 10:30 – 11:30am (GMT+1), Alan Calder will deliver a presentation entitled “Data protection and cyber security: Is your business secure?”, which will discuss the GDPR and the cyber security measures organisations need to put in place to avoid significant administrative fines.

Alan Calder will also deliver a workshop on GDPR compliance: “Key requirements for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance, data breaches and notifications” from 11:30 – 12:30pm (GMT+1) on 15 March 2017.

“The workshop will help senior management and teams involved in GDPR compliance get a better understanding of the key requirements of the Regulation, what they need to do about data breaches under the GDPR, policies and procedures to respond to data breaches, and the requirements for notifying a data breach,” Alan Calder continued.

The conference is generic across all trades, with hands-on and practical parallel sessions on the GDPR, third-party compliance, audit committees, IT security, and bribery, fraud and corruption issues.
