IT Governance launches fortnightly webinars to help businesses move towards GDPR compliance

IT Governance, the global cybersecurity experts.

ELY, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM, January 24, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- IT Governance, the leading provider of GDPR training and consultancy services, is delighted to announce the launch of a new fortnightly webinar series designed to help organisations prepare for EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.

Organisations worldwide that collect and process the data of EU residents will be required to review and update polices, processes and procedures in order to meet the stringent requirements of the GDPR. The Regulation is due to come into effect on 25 May 2018, leaving businesses with less than 18 months to implement the required controls and achieve compliance with the GDPR.

Alan Calder, the founder and chief executive officer of IT Governance, said: “The GDPR creates new obligations for businesses that process EU residents’ personal data and allows local authorities to impose fines of up to 4% of annual global turnover or €20 million – whichever is higher – for infringements. That’s why businesses, irrespective of location and size, need to take action now and prepare for compliance with the Regulation.”

The first steps towards GDPR compliance webinar is designed to help organisations get a practical understanding of the first steps they should take in order to meet the Regulation’s requirements.

IT Governance’s data protection and information security experts will share practical insights about implementing a data-centric security approach in line with the Regulation to help businesses improve their information security defences, mitigate risks and reduce their GDPR compliance budget.

Each webinar session is designed to help organisations understand why they need to comply with the GDPR and what might happen if they suffer a data breach. It also provides an overview of the GDPR’s direct impact, the transition timelines, the technical and organisational measures businesses will need to adopt, the key recommendations, and industry-recognised practices to help businesses achieve compliance with the GDPR.

The first webinar session, to be delivered by Alan Calder, will take place on 31 January 2017 from 3:00 – 3:45pm (GMT) and includes a 15-minute Q&A at the end of the session. To book your place, please click here »

Following this session, the webinar will take place fortnightly on Tuesdays – 14 and 28 February, 14 and 28 March, and 11 and 25 April 2017.
