IT Governance’s head of consultancy to speak at Anglia Ruskin University

ELY, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM, January 18, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- IT Governance’s head of consultancy, Tony Drewitt, will speak on incident response, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Network and Information Systems Directive at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge on 19 and 25 January.

Organised and hosted by the Department of Computing & Technology at Anglia Ruskin University, the British Computer Society (BCS), the Cybercrime Forensics Special Internet Group and OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) Cambridge Chapter, the two one-day workshops are designed to raise awareness of cyber security and cyber crime, provide an overview of relevant legislation, and discuss what is considered best practice in these challenging times.

IT Governance’s head of consultancy, Tony Drewitt, will speak about cyber resilience and incident response at Incident Response Day on 19 January. The presentation will provide an overview of today’s cyber threat environment, what cyber assurance entails, how organisations can address the three pillars of information security (people, process and technology), digital and physical security, and implementing a resilience and incident response structure.

Tony Drewitt will also speak at GDPR & NIS Awareness Day on 25 January, when he will deliver a presentation on “NIS, GDPR and Cyber Security: The convergence of cyber and compliance risk.”

The presentation will take place from 14:15 – 15:00 and will address the key requirements for GDPR compliance, including data breaches and notifications, as well as the technical and organisational measures that organisations need to adopt in order to comply with the NIS Directive, and the role of international standards and best practices to achieve cyber resilience.

GDPR & NIS Awareness Day will take place on Wednesday, 25 January 2017 from 9:30 – 17:00 at the Lord Ashcroft Building (LAB002), Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
