Prior to the Vilonia Funeral Home opening, the city’s residents as well as those in Enola, and Mount Vernon areas had to travel to other places within the area, but now have one within a reasonable distance.

“We had seen substantial growth in Vilonia, and we know people have to travel a long way for funerals,” Mike Matos, funeral director and owner, said.

Matos said he knew he had a career in funeral services in the future when he attended a family member’s funeral at age 12.

He got his first job in funeral service at 19 years old, and has been in the business for 17 years, Matos said. He is a first-generation funeral director.

“In addition to our location to Vilonia residents, we offer lower prices than a lot of areas,” Matos said. “We offer prices that are actually about half the price of surrounding funeral homes.”

The funeral home offers full-service packages, including cremation or funeral packages and is serving many families from other communities such as Conway, Little Rock, and Searcy.
