Two feedstock treatment reactors for the production of the high-octane component in Euro-5 emission class gasolines have been delivered to the Gazprom Neft Moscow Refinery and installed in their operating positions. This major equipment was produced by machine-building enterprise Volgogradneftemash for a cutting-edge Euro+ combined oil refining unit (CORU), construction of which is currently being undertaken at the Moscow Refinery.
The combined weight of the equipment totals 150 tonnes, with the largest reactor running to a height of 24.5 metres, with a diameter of four metres.
The reactors were transported from Volgograd to Moscow by special freight-towing tractors, with delivery taking place at night-time in a non-stop freight convoy, accompanied by support vehicles, over a route running to a total 970 kilometres.
Volgogradneftemash JSC has also produced 14 heat exchangers for the Moscow Refinery — the technology used by the Russian producers ensuring the reliable operation of equipment under high pressure and temperatures. These heat exchangers will form part of a hydro-treatment complex for the Euro+ diesel-fuel facility.
Construction of the Euro+ facility is one of the key projects in the second phase of the comprehensive modernisation of the Moscow Refinery being undertaken by Gazprom Neft. The Euro+ facility is expected to commence operation in the second half of 2018. The facility is designed for crude-oil distillation and the production of components for ecologically sound Euro-5 fuels. Construction of the new complex will allow the Moscow Refinery to decommission several older-generation facilities and increase overhaul life and repair runtimes from two to four years, ensuring additional stability in fuel supplies for the capital and its suburbs. With improved energy efficiency and greater industrial safety, the enterprise will continue reducing the environmental impacts of its production processes.
A total RUB250 billion is being invested in the Moscow Refinery modernisation programme undertaken by Gazprom Neft since 2011. The plant is systematically getting rid of obsolete facilities and actively introducing modern production complexes. Gazprom Neft has set itself the task of turning the Moscow Refinery into the best oil refining business in Europe in terms of product quality, energy efficiency, and environmental performance. The plant’s environmental impacts have been cut by 50 percent over the past five years.
Volgogradneftemash JSC is Russia’s largest producer of technological equipment for the gas, oil and oil refining industries. A key feature of the goods produced at the plant is its capability of supplying large-size and heavy equipment ready for service, eliminating the need for any further assembly of the equipment on-site, allowing considerably faster lead-times in its commissioning. Almost all gas production and transportation facilities, as well as most oil and gas processing facilities throughout Russia and the CIS, have been supplied with equipment produced by Volgogradneftemash JSC.
