Women Veterans ROCK! Names
The 2017 Woman Veteran of The Year!

Major General Linda L. Singh will be honored at the annual Women Veterans ROCK! Veterans Day Rally in Washington, DC.

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, October 11, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On Veterans Day, November 11, 2016 the Women Veterans ROCK! Advocacy Campaign will stand among America’s leading military women and pay tribute to America’s women veterans during its Veterans Day Rally at Trinity Washington University in Washington, D.C. Every year the group recognizes a woman veteran for her service, achievements and commitment to serve in the United States Military. This year, Women Veterans ROCK! names Major General Linda L. Singh as the recipient of the 2017 Woman Veteran of The Year Award.

Deborah Harmon-Pugh, National Campaign Chair of The Women Veterans ROCK! Advocacy Campaign, congratulates Major General Singh for her distinguished portfolio of service, education, military and civilian contributions to society. “She embodies and demonstrates all of the characteristics of our highest national achievement and has been named The 2017 Women Veteran of The Year.  America salutes Major General Singh for her supreme service to our country which benefits the common good of all humanity," says Deborah Harmon-Pugh.

Major General Singh was selected due to her incredible trajectory from an impoverished, homeless adolescent to the head of Maryland’s National Guard. In January 2015, Governor Larry Hogan appointed Major General Singh to serve as the Adjutant General of the Maryland National Guard, which is comprised of Maryland’s Air and Army National Guard forces. She is the first woman ever to hold this position in the State of Maryland.

“The key to any successful organization, whether it be civilian or military, is diversity,” said Maj. Gen. Linda L. Singh, The Adjutant General of Maryland. “It is not just diversity of people but also a diversity of thought and capability. Women Veterans serving in leadership roles can bring a unique set of strengths and problem solving skills that adds values to any organization. This is truly an honor for me to receive this award, and I want to thank all of those women who have gone before me that have helped blaze this path. I also encourage others to continue to make significant contributions to not only their organizations, but also society. ”

The Women Veterans ROCK! Veterans Day Rally & Town Hall will be held in O’Connor Auditorium on the campus of Trinity Washington University from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. The event is FREE and open to the public, but advanced registration is required. Veterans and their families can call (215) 836-4262 for more information or register online at www.WomenVetsRock.org.
