Uxbridge-based General Mills employee Peter O'Reilly was named 'Community Champion' at last night's prestigious Food and Drink Federation (FDF) Awards. The ceremony, held at London's The Brewery, celebrated businesses and industry professionals from across the food and drink supply chain.

Peter's main role at General Mills is Head of Credit and Risk, but in addition to this busy position, where he manages a team of 10, he has been a champion for all charitable and community activities for the company for nearly two decades. Whether it's organising charity activities, recruiting volunteers to clear up the local canal network or providing products to worthy causes, Peter is a real Community Champion.

In addition to his unofficial charity and community role, Peter has also been a Trustee of the Hillingdon Partnership Trust since 2008. The Trust, which is local to the General Mills offices in Uxbridge, brings together stakeholders to work on a variety of local charitable initiatives and Peter has spearheaded a range of activities which have improved children's education and services in the local area.

FDF's Director General Ian Wright said: “Peter has demonstrated huge commitment to championing CSR activity in the Uxbridge area at General Mills for nearly 20 years and it is clear that he is held in high esteem by his colleagues at the company. The combination of Peter's commitment, passion and knowledge of his local area means that he is a true Community Champion.”
