Carla Hayden will be sworn in as the 14th Librarian of Congress by Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts Jr. in the Great Hall of the Library's Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, September 14 at noon (livestream begins at 11 a.m.). Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan will offer remarks. Hayden will be the first woman and the first African-American to serve as Librarian of Congress. Hayden was nominated by President Barack Obama and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
