April Showers:The Al Jolson Project

It isn't raining rain you know...

In this first Al Jolson Project offering, Larry De Angelo sings this most heartfelt statement of optimism ever written.

NASHVILLE, UNITED STATES, September 5, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- It's been 95 years since the great Al Jolson premiered April Showers on Broadway. Since then this song by Louis Silvers and B.G. De Sylva has gone on to be not only a Jolson trademark but also an affirming statement to generations since who have suffered from rainy day blahs.

Larry DeAngelo kicks off the Al Jolson Project with his rendition of the 1921 classic and dedicates the effort to all of us looking to find the Bluebird of Happiness on a cloudy day.

Plus: You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet:

Coming soon: Larry sings Liza (All the Clouds'll Roll Away), a song composed by George Gershwin with lyrics by Ira Gershwin and Gus Kahn. It was introduced in 1929 by Ruby Keeler in Florenz Ziegfeld's musical Show Girl. The stage performances were accompanied by the Duke Ellington Orchestra. On the show's opening night, Keeler's husband Al Jolson suddenly stood up from his seat in the third row and sang a chorus of the song, much to the surprise of the audience and Gershwin himself. Jolson later recorded the song, and his rendition rose to number nine on the charts.

Kol Nidre: Central to The Al Jolson Story is the scene in the 1927 "talkie" in which the Jazz Singer leads one of the holiest prayers in the Jewish religion as his cantor father listens from his deathbed across the street from the synagogue.

Heldentenor Kevin Hanek, who has preformed operatic offerings in venues ranging from Austria to Nevada and has relished his role as the "goyische upstart" (more formally Cantorial Soloist) in synagogues like Miami's Temple Judea, will be singing the Kol Nidre in a release we hope to get out before the Jewish High Holy Days. Singing harmony will be spinto soprano Kathy Geary.
