The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) will join the Food and Drink Exporters Association (FDEA) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) at International Festival of Business (IFB) 2016, as part of a series of events aimed at growing UK food and drink exports.

Taking place in Liverpool from 13 June – 1 July 2016, IFB2016 will see more than 30,000 delegates from 100 countries descend on the city, providing a platform for networking and an opportunity to hear from industry experts.

Amongst those events aimed specifically at food and drink producers are the UKTI led Export Online: Food and Drink e-Commerce Summit (14 June 2016), which looks at how exporters can cater for the growing appetite of brand Britain online. FDEA are also hosting a Summer Network Forum & Meet the Buyer (15 June 2016) event which includes a presentation by Tim Rycroft, Corporate Affairs Director at FDF, entitled Navigating the global health challenge.

Tim will outline the efforts British manufacturers are making to reduce calories from sugar in their products in the context of the continuing sugar and health debate. Tim will also look at those markets where a nutrient, food or drink tax has been introduced, and those considering such measures, as well as looking ahead to the publication of UK Government's Childhood Obesity Strategy.

The FDEA Summer Network Forum & Meet the Buyer session includes a workshop programme as well as the opportunity for producers to meet with buyers from countries such as the UAE, Germany, Turkey, India and Ireland.

Tim Rycroft, Corporate Affairs Director at FDF, said: “FDF is pleased to be teaming up with FDEA for the International Festival of Business as part of our continued partnership which aims to help the UK's food and drink producers compete on an international level.

“This event will provide attendees with a chance to hear from a variety of industry experts, while also offering the opportunity to meet with important buyers from a variety of countries.”

Elsa Fairbanks, FDEA, said: “This is a key event in the UK food and drink export calendar and a golden opportunity for manufacturers to have pre-arranged meetings with key buyers from both traditional and emerging overseas markets.

“We're delighted to be joined by FDF and UKTI as part of our activity at IFB2016, and we're sure Tim's presentation will provide exporters with essential expertise and guidance.”
