Barbara says, “My father was killed in the war and my uncles served in the Military. I have such admiration for someone who would want to give their lives for us. For them to go to other countries, never knowing what they’re getting into to protect us, is overwhelming for me. I am thrilled to be of service to them.”

Barbara del Amo was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and grew up in the Scandinavian culture there. Her grandparents were from Norway and Northern Germany. Barbara attended the American-British Academy in Athens, Greece.

Barbara soon went to the College of Notre Dame for Women in Baltimore and then to San Francisco State University in California, where she earned her Lifetime Teaching Credential.

Barbara and her family later moved to Madrid, Spain, for two years and came back to San Francisco where Barbara went to Berkeley University and completed her Graduate Studies in Education. She taught school for ten years and opened her own nursery pre-school, but always wanted to be a Realtor. Barbara says, “I love houses and I love being of service. Real Estate is the epitome of service above self. My school-teaching and Real Estate are the same. I educate my clients and I’m adamant that there should be no surprises and that they understand the decisions they are making.” She moved to San Antonio in 1989 with her spouse, an E-9 in the Army.

Karen Trevino was born in Luling, Texas, and married her high school sweetheart just three weeks after graduation. She became a self-proclaimed ‘June Cleaver’ as a stay-at home mom for twenty- one years. Karen says, “I loved it! I was always active in my children’s lives and I wouldn’t change that for anything.” She adds, “When it comes to Military, I tear up. Seeing them salute just gets to me. My dad was in WWII and I loved listening to his stories. I have a great-nephew who is currently in the Air Force in Germany and I believe we should respect all Military and all that they do.”

Karen’s prior jobs included working for a homebuilder in the area of warranty and customer service where she learned everything she could about houses from top to bottom. One of her sisters owned her own Real Estate company and another sister is a Real Estate agent.

Karen says, “One thing my family and I enjoyed doing was competing in the annual Luling watermelon seed spitting contest. One year, my husband and I both won the event and as much fun as we had – it went viral. Not in the way things go viral today on the internet, of course, but an amazing thing happened. Seagram’s, the largest distiller of alcoholic beverages in the world, was launching their new Watermelon Smash Cooler. They thought it would be neat to tie in their product with what we did, so they flew us to Hollywood where we appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and New York to be on Regis and Kathie Lee! We had such fun doing this and I learned a whole new level of understanding what branding means to a person and to a company.”

In 2009, Karen was working for a transaction company as a Listing Manager and met Barbara, who needed a full time assistant. After working with Barbara for 3-4 years, Karen became a buyer's agent and they make a powerful team!!!

Karen and Barbara complement each other thoroughly. Karen says, “I tell every one of my clients that I’m not here to sell you a house - I’m here to help you buy a house.” She wants to feel good about the sale and to know that she would have bought the house herself.

Barbara agrees. “Karen is a true delight to work with and I couldn’t ask for a more talented, intelligent person as Karen. I trust her implicitly.”

Karen says, “I love working with Barbara. She is so passionate about what she does and truly wants to help people. We work perfectly together. She is a master negotiator and I am so blessed to work with her.”

Barbara earned her Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification and Karen is currently attaining hers. Barbara is a member of the Veteran’s Association of Real Estate Professionals and Karen is a Certified Military Residential Specialist (CMRS).

Barbara and Karen are very involved in the community and love going to events that celebrate the Military.
