This prestigious award will be presented at Ovation on May 20, 2016.

Each year, GAACC recognizes Asian business leaders, companies and organizations that have made significant contributions to the local economy or welfare of the Asian Pacific American community. GAAAC’s highest individual honor is the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Honorable Norman Mineta began his political career on the San Jose City Council in 1967 and was elected mayor in 1971. He was a United States Representative for 20 years and was a vice president at Lockheed Martin when appointed as Secretary of Commerce. He later also served as Secretary of Transportation under President George W. Bush.

“I am honored to receive the 2016 GAACC Lifetime Achievement Award, because it not only recognizes my public services, but also celebrates extraordinary contributions that Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) have made to the prosperity of our community and advancement of our society” from Secretary Mineta.

Ovation will take place at the JW Marriott Austin and will include cocktail reception, awards program, entertainment, and after party. Tickets to the event can be purchased at the event website: www.OvationGala.org

Ovation is held in May to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage month. This community is the fastest growing demographic segment nationally and this is true for Central Texas as well. There are an estimated 13,000 Asian owned businesses in the local area and this number is growing at a blistering 44 percent rate, creating jobs and contributing to the local economy.
