DENVER, CO, UNITED STATES, February 29, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- TraceGains, the leading Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) software solution for food and consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies, held a two-day workshop for employees to gain expertise in the Preventive Controls for Human Food requirements that go into effect in 2016 under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). TraceGains’ software solutions are used in more than 300 customer sites throughout the food supply chain and will be an essential tool for FSMA-compliant recordkeeping.

“TraceGains is committed to helping the food supply chain gain and maintain FSMA-compliance. We put our staff through the Preventive Controls for Qualified Individual (PCQI) course because it’s a way for us to walk a mile in our customers’ shoes,” said TraceGains’ CEO Gary Nowacki. “During the course, we had to craft our own food safety plan. Now, not only do we have deep knowledge about FSMA’s preventive controls, we have a greater appreciation for the responsibility food safety professionals take on and how important their jobs are.”

The instructor for the PCQI course was Lead FSMA Trainer Nancy Scharlach of Soterian Systems, LLC who designed the hands-on workshop using the FDA-approved curriculum developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance. She has spent 20 years working for prestigious companies such as Schwann’s, The Hain Celestial Group, and Jamba Juice Company; and the combination of her plant floor experience and deep background as a food safety trainer and auditor makes Ms. Scharlach the ideal instructor to help clients decode the FSMA rules. Soterian Systems and TraceGains have developed an ongoing content and training partnership to offer customers best-in-class food safety solutions. Ms. Scharlach will continue working with TraceGains to develop FSMA training materials and resources as a service to the food industry.

TraceGains hosts an ongoing webinar series called “FSMA Club” which it makes available to FSQA professionals free of charge. The first four FSMA Club webinars focused on: 1) Preventive Controls for Animal Food; 2) Preventive Controls for the Human Food; 2); the Foreign Supplier Verification Rule; and, 3) a general overview of FSMA.
