Texas Values Action Endorses Jeff Judson for Texas House
Texas Values Action proudly endorses Jeff Judson for the Texas House of Representatives, House District 121 in the March 1, 2016 Republican Primary.
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, February 12, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values Action, said, “Jeff Judson is a battle-tested champion for the values of faith, family, and freedom. His proven record as a conservative, pro-family leader leaves no doubt that he will fight to defend religious freedom, marriage between one man and one woman, and innocent human life. We need men of integrity like Jeff Judson in the Texas House who will stand for what is right and represent the conservative values of their constituents, not special interests.”Texas Values Action pointed out that “Rep. Joe Straus was elected Speaker of the Texas House in 2009 with the votes of 11 moderate Republicans and 65 liberal Democrats. During his time as speaker, Straus has worked to ensure key House Committees are chaired by his moderate Republican allies and liberal Democrats. In the 2015 Legislative Session, Straus appointed 13 liberal Democrats as committee chairs, and the overall average score for Straus’ committee chairs on the 2015 Faith and Family Scorecard was an abysmal 55%.
“Under the leadership of Straus and his moderate allies, including Rep. Charlie Geren and Rep. Bryon Cook, important religious freedom and marriage protection bills, including the house version of the Pastor Protection Bill, were never voted on by the full Texas House, despite overwhelming support of Republicans and the people of Texas. Under Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s leadership, the Texas Senate took a leadership role in ensuring the Pastor Protection Bill was passed and ultimately signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott.
“In addition, Straus, Cook, and Geren publicly championed a bill that would have infringed the First Amendment free speech rights of conservative non-profits and potentially even churches. Texas Values Action helped lead efforts to defeat the bill.”
