Minister Mark Brantley Completes a Successful Visit to New York City

NEW YORK, NY, USA, January 19, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- NEW YORK, New York - The Honorable Mark Brantley, Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism for Nevis had a full plate during his recent visit to New York City, celebrating a bit of shared history and taking a series of meetings that explored all of the exciting developments for Nevis that are on the horizon.

Brantley’s visit coincided with festivities to celebrate Alexander Hamilton’s 259th birthday on Monday, January 11. America’s Founding Father was born and raised in Nevis and the Caribbean island still lauds its native son. The celebration was conducted by the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society and Minister Brantley was given a prestigious role in the ceremonies, which featured cake cutting and wreath-laying commemorations and was joined by members of the US Coast Guard, the branch of service that Hamilton founded.

Minister Brantley was also in town to deliver an important announcement to the US media regarding its geothermal initiative – one which puts Nevis ahead of most of the world’s countries in terms of clean, renewable energy. He was joined by Bruce Cutright, CEO of Thermal Energy Strategies and Principal at Nevis Renewable Energy Inc. (NREI) whose company works in Nevis on the production of geothermal energy. They were interviewed via satellite by numerous television stations across the US about the topic.

Throughout the week, the minister also met with many important journalists including Klara Glowczewska of Town & Country Travel Magazine, Arnie Weissman of Travel Weekly, Ed Wetschler of Recommend Magazine, Elinor Garely, Editor-in-Chief TourismExecutives and eTurboNews, Jennifer Flowers, Deputy Editor of AFAR Magazine, and Brian Major of TravAlliance.

In addition to media, the Minister also met with Dave Clark, Vice President of Network Planning for Nevis’ airline partner, JetBlue. They discussed how the ongoing partnership can be improved and ways to promote services that would be mutually beneficial for both parties. As the largest carrier in the US to the Caribbean and largest carrier in to San Juan where passengers can transfer to flights directly to Nevis, JetBlue is an incredibly important strategic partner. The Minister stressed that as more and more travelers learn about Nevis, it’s more important than ever that there is easier access to the island.
