ROSEBURG, OREGON REALTOR® JOHN MARRAFFINO EARNS MILITARY RELOCATION PROFESSIONAL (MRP) CERTIFICATION

I feel that everyone who served in the Military is part of my family and there’s nothing I won’t do for them.

ROSEBURG, OREGON, USA, December 14, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- John Marraffino is a retired Air Force NCO and Real Estate Broker with RE/MAX Professional Realty in Roseburg, Oregon. He specializes in, In-town and Rural Homes, Foreclosure Property, Horse Property, Residential Acreages, Senior Communities, Short Sales and Military Relocation.

John was born in Los Angeles, California, graduated from Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nevada and went to Arizona State University as a music major with an emphasis in Performance Composition and brass instruments. He went on tour throughout the Midwest in a rock band for two years with bands such as Tommy Dale & The Night Squad.

John then settled down, got married and had a child – with another on the way - while working as a DJ at a Radio Station. The hours were limited and he realized he needed a steady job and thought, “I’d really like to learn how to be a Chief Engineer in Radio, so I joined the Air Force on a delayed enlistment.”

John went to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and then to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he graduated from Tech School at the top of his class. His first duty assignment was at Elkhorn, a detachment near Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska which is a receiver site for the Strategic Air Command. Since he had always wanted to teach, he applied for Special Duty, which is open for ANY duty, and was sent to school in San Angelo, Texas, where he learned how to fix electronic intelligence gathering equipment. He says, “It took six months to get security clearance and they probed so deep into my past that they even talked to my third grade teacher!”

John then relocated to Sembach Air Base in Germany for four years, working in mobile communications before transferring to Warner-Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia where he worked with the Communications Squadron in Paging Maintenance as a liaison for the Civilian Contractor, maintaining the Paging System and the Civil Engineering Vehicle Radios.

John was then assigned back to Germany at Lindsey Air Station in Wiesbaden and was in the 1st Combat Communications Group. He says, “We were the first in and the last out and it was absolutely the best tour I ever had. It was the tightest knit group of people I’ve ever worked with. We worked hard and played hard.” He was then transferred to Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida, then back to Germany at the WANNA Communication site and on to RAF Upper Heyford in England where he finished his tour and then retired from the Military in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

John decided to start his own business doing paint restoration on automobiles and boats but the hurricanes hurt his business so he went to work at a poultry processing company as a heavy equipment mechanic. He later worked for the screen printing company ‘Serigraphia’ which printed shirts for businesses such as ‘The Gap,” “Banana Republic” and “Old Navy.” Then, Hurricane Georges came through and wiped out everything. He says, “It was unreal. It sucked up all the water in the bay and dumped it on Ft. Walton Beach. I had a double-wide mobile home that was completely totaled by FEMA. My wife and I moved to Denver, Colorado where I worked with IBM Global Services. We split up shortly after that and I found my high school sweetheart, Cyndi, online. We realized that we were both still in love with each other so we moved to Las Vegas, got married, bought a house and made a killing on the sale during the Real Estate Boom.”

Cyndi was subsequently hired as a Medical Records Manager at a VA Hospital in Roseburg, necessitating the couple’s move to Oregon, where they continue to make their home. John worked for Symantec, an anti-virus computer software company as a Tech Support Manager before moving to Oregon City to work at Netflix as a Tech Support Team Manager. He then went to T-Mobile as a Customer Care Coach.

John had bought and sold many homes in his Military career, utilizing his VA Loan and began thinking, “I need to get into Real Estate. My dad was in Real Estate and I thought it would be something I’d like to do. I enjoy selling houses and I like showing people houses and I said: ‘How cool would that be to make a living showing houses?’ I took classes, got my license and hooked up immediately with RE/MAX.”

John found out about the Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification through the National Association of Realtors. He says, “The MRP Certification really appealed to me because of my own Military career. I knew it would help me attract Military clientele who appreciate a Real Estate agent who is knowledgeable about time constraints and VA loans, just to name a few. I wanted to have the MRP Certification to be of better service to my clients. I live near the Roseburg VA Hospital so we have a lot of retired Military and Veterans here and I want to be the agent they go to when they are looking to buy or sell a home. Awareness of the Real Estate needs for Veterans in our community is growing and that's part of what drew me to earn the MRP Certification. I feel that everyone who served in the Military is part of my family and there’s nothing I won’t do for them.”
