FDF's Ian Wright awarded for outstanding contribution to public affairs
14 December 2015
Ian Wright CBE, Director General of the Food and Drink Federation, has received an award for his Outstanding Contribution to Public Affairs.
The Public Affairs Awards recognise excellence in the industry and are hosted by the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA), Government Knowledge (GovKnow) and Zetter's Political Services (ZPS).
This accolade comes just months after Ian received a CBE for his political and public service.
Commenting on his award, Ian Wright CBE said:
“It's really very humbling to be given this award. I have spent 35 years in public relations and public affairs. To be recognised by my peers for my contribution to the industry over that time is a huge honour.”
Ian Wright joined the Food and Drink Federation in March 2015. He has since been leading the organisation in ensuring Government and stakeholders understand the importance of food and drink manufacturing, and support the industry to meet the changing needs of UK consumers in the future.
Ian has spent more than two decades in senior management positions with two of the UK's most important businesses Diageo and Boots The Chemists. For 14 years he was corporate relations director of Diageo. He was a member of the executive committee and responsible for representing the company to governments, NGOs and the media around the world.
He has also worked for other food businesses including Pillsbury, Burger King and Mars Confectionery. Ian's career also includes spells in consultancy and politics. He is also a non-executive director of Champolion and a member of the advisory board of The Work Crowd. He is also a trustee of both The WAVE Trust and Children on the Edge. Ian, 57, is married with two children and lives in Rutland and London.
