Kuwait Launches Sustainable Energy Conference and Exhibition to Accelerate Renewable Energy Programme

Kuwait Oil Company set to host four-day exhibition and conference in November 2015

KUWAIT CITY, NON-US, KUWAIT, July 15, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Kuwait Oil Company will host the country’s first event dedicated to the acceleration and development of clean energy later this year. The Kuwait Sustainable Energy Conference and Exhibition will unite the country’s key stakeholders with global thought leaders and private sector players, to help drive Kuwait’s 2030 renewable energy vision.

The Kuwait Sustainable Energy Conference and Exhibition will take place under the patronage of Mr Nizar M. Al-Adsani, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), with official support from Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). The four-day exhibition and conference will be from 29 November to 2 December.

Kuwait is currently reliant on fossil fuel generated power for electricity and water desalination. Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has estimated that by 2030 the country’s energy demand will triple, threatening economic and social development without rapid diversification of the energy supply. The country has stated aims of 15 percent of energy from renewable sources by 2030.

Kuwait is currently building one of the largest solar energy projects in the region. The multi-technology Shagaya Renewable Energy Park – being co-developed by MEW and KISR – is due to deliver 2GW of power by 2030. In addition, Kuwait’s government and industrial sectors will combine positive contributions to the energy mix with investments in energy-efficient technologies that reduce consumption.

As well as addressing the specific needs of Kuwait’s energy mix, the event will provide an important opportunity for the GCC nations to share knowledge and ideas around the future of energy in the region. The event will also seek to broaden co-development and collaboration between various Middle East and North African nations, attracting public and private sector dignitaries, policy makers, financiers and technologists from leading regional clean energy developers such as Morocco, Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

This four-day event will incorporate a three-day conference and an interactive workshop day involving leading industry experts who will discuss both strategic and technical issues regarding energy efficiency and power generation in Kuwait. The conference will also feature a world-class exhibition of international sustainable energy visionaries including IOCs, NOCs, technology providers, EPC contractors and consultants who will showcase technological innovations, provide solutions to the region’s energy sector and offer advice and updates on industry developments.

The conference is organised by IQPC Dubai, under the advice and supervision of leading experts from Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, and Kuwait University.
