Japan – the new vector in academic outreach
Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is continuing to expand the boundaries of the academic collaboration and is active on the global arena. February 9-12 Edward Crawley, Skoltech President, and Mikhail Myagkov, Vice-President for Academic Outreach and International Relations, will conduct a business trip to Japan to visit the leading Japanese universities.
On February 9 Prof. Crawley will visit the Osaka University and meet with its President Toshio Hirano and Executive Vice President Yasuyuki Okamura. On February 10 Skoltech President will visit the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) and meet with President Mishima, discuss the student exchange programs, attend the labs and deliver a seminar on ‘Building a University for the 21st Century’. On February 11 the Skoltech delegation attends the Institute of Fluid Science as well as the Advanced Institute for Materials Research of the Tohoku University and meet with the institutes’ directors – Mr. Shigeru Obayashi and Mr. Motoko Kotani to discuss the collaboration prospects. On February 12 a visit to the Hokkaido University is scheduled.
