Dr. José B. Alvarez Named Senior VP, Academic Affairs & Initiatives

PHOENIX, AZ, U.S., December 11, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Since we opened the doors of our first CEA Study Abroad Center in Paris in 2005, we’ve provided innovative, diverse academic offerings that align with the needs of our students, our U.S. university partners, and our School of Record, the University of New Haven. Over the past nine years, we’ve established Study Abroad Centers worldwide, greatly expanded our academic capabilities, and continuously honed our expertise -- all while maintaining our primary focus on academic excellence.

With this continued growth comes the need for expanded leadership; as such, we’re pleased to announce the appointment of José B. Alvarez, Ph.D. to a new role as Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs & Initiatives. Dr. Alvarez’s academic interdisciplinary background in the field of Cultural Studies; proven university experience as a tenured faculty member and administrator at the University of Georgia; and five-year leadership position as Academic Dean for Latin America and Europe at SIT Study Abroad make him the ideal person to lead our academic unit, innovate our offerings, and set our educational mission.

Dr. Alvarez joined CEA in 2013 as the VP for Program Management & Development. During his tenure, he’s made significant contributions in staff development, operational efficiencies, faculty engagement, and on-site vendor relations. As Senior VP, Academic Affairs & Initiatives, Dr. Alvarez will serve as CEA’s senior academic leader and member of the CEA Executive Team. Dr. Alvarez will focus on enhancing and standardizing CEA’s co-curricular activities and build CEA’s Advisory Board to further innovate our curriculum and increase the diversity of our academic offerings. He’ll direct CEA’s academic vision, ensuring alignment of our academic projects with our university partners and School of Record.

As our organization continues to grow, we look forward to further building on the strengths of our seasoned Academic Affairs team, as well as expanding our capabilities to meet the needs of our students and our university partners. Dr. Alvarez can be reached by email at jalvarez@ceastudyabroad.com or by phone at +39.06.4429.0099.
