Gazpromneft-Lubricants is, for the first time, conducting tests of its specialist G-Energy Racing motorsport oils, to be used by MAZ trucks in the 2015 Dakar Rally.
G-Energy Racing 20W-60 motor oils will be used by the Belorussian MAZ-SPORTavto team, three crews of which will be taking part in the T4 truck class. The marathon rally starts on 4 April 2015, in Buenos Aires.
Testing will be undertaken with the support of the Gazpromneft-Lubricants mobile laboratory, which has, already, been used several times during elimination rounds at the Russian Rally Raid Championship and the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup.
As part of its collaboration with MAZ-SPORTavto (which has now been ongoing for more than two years) Gazpromneft-Lubricants has already conducted testing of G-Energy Racing premium oils in MAZ trucks, at the 2014 Russian Championships, 2014.
Alexander Trukhan, Gazpromneft-Lubricants CEO, commented: “We use the best formulations and technologies to make sure that our company’s products guarantee the flawless technical condition of rally vehicles. We have been ‘breaking in’ G-Energy Racing oils on MAZ vehicles over the past season. The product has proved itself in testing and is now ready to deliver optimum results at Dakar.”
MAZ-SPORTavto team leader Valery Kozlovsky added: “We have every confidence in the technology, and in ourselves: the experience we have gained in previous competitions means we can stake a claim for a well-deserved result.”

The marathon Dakar Rally (formerly the Paris—Dakar Rally) is an annual trans-continental rally raid, held every year since 1978. Both professional sportsmen (works’ teams) and amateurs take part in competitions (the latter making up as much as 80 percent of competitors). In contrast to classic rallies, elimination rounds take place, as a rule, from the beginning of the year, ending with arrival at the final destination. The full extent of the rally is divided into various sections, with victory going to those completing the full route in the shortest time. In addition to this, the Dakar, as well as having elimination rounds across all rally vehicles as a whole, also includes specific contests for motorbikes, quad-bikes and trucks — with a rally-raid winner in each category.
