Airways Aviation international student Rishwin Anand has taken a step closer to turning his dream of flying into a reality.

Airways Aviation international student Rishwin Anand has taken a step closer to turning his dream of flying into a reality.

The 18-year-old Malaysian student, who is studying his aeroplane Commercial Pilot Licence at Airways Aviation’s Gold Coast base, celebrated his first solo flight earlier this month.

Mr Anand said the experience has fuelled his desire to become a full time pilot.

“Having completed my first solo flight means a lot to me, and proves that I’m able to command the aircraft all by myself,” Mr Anand said.

“I was shocked when the instructor informed the tower in mid-air that I was going to do the solo flight. I had mixed feelings and was nervous like everyone else probably feels when they are going for their first solo. On the other hand, I felt excited to do it and meant I was progressing in my training.”

The Palm Beach resident said a trip to Australia in 2011 was the catalyst behind his push to study here.
“My first trip to Australia in 2011 gave me an opportunity to experience flying, and from then on, my resolve to become a pilot became stronger.”

Mr Anand said Airways Aviation is helping him to achieve his dream of becoming a pilot and flying around the world.

“I decided to try Airways Aviation because I had a chance to meet Captain Aaron McDonald who help me feel reassured and confident about my future as a commercial pilot,” Mr Anand said.

‘’After meeting all the staff at Airways Aviation, I felt confident in their commitment and objectives towards helping develop budding pilots.I hope to achieve my dreams with this opportunity that has been afforded to me.
