Academy which takes place in both Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and St. Paul, Minnesota. The four seminars are geared to prospective and new hop growers in the Midwest interested in fulfilling the craft brewers increasing demand for locally grown hops.
The Brewers Association states that the number of craft breweries has doubled over the last decade. According to the USDA, the price of hops has doubled in the past ten years. Lee Jennings of Grow More Hops, LLC states, "The craft beer brewmasters that I have met in Wisconsin and Minnesota prefer to use locally grown hops in their craft beer. As a result, locally produced hops are in extremely short supply." Jennings further states "More commercial hop farmers are needed to satisfy the demand for locally grown hops.
