AIRWAYS Aviation international student Ninad Yeshwant Kevale has celebrated a major career milestone by successfully conducting his maiden solo helicopter flight.
Mr Kevale is part of a growing number of international students turning to the world class academy which has expanded globally and operates in four different countries.
The 27-year-old said he was shocked when he was informed he would be taking full control of the aircraft in May.
“I was waiting for the day that I would go solo and all of a sudden my instructor said I’m doing it,” The Gold Coast-based student said.
“You dream about it and to actually get the opportunity was amazing.”
Growing up in Mumbai, India, the commercial pilot licence (CPL) student’s interest in helicopters was born while dispatching planes for an aircraft company in Perth five years ago.
“That’s what triggered my interest in aviation and after looking at both fixed wing and helicopters I really wanted to work with helicopters.
“I always knew there would be a commercial market for it and it was just about finding the best school that would also supply my international visa.”
“I’m really blessed to be in this school and the opportunities are really helping me."
“The school is providing great training and a pathway but it goes both ways and if you give them the output and do the hard work then it will work out.”
Airways Aviation is the only flight training academy in Australia providing ground theory school plus flight training in aeroplanes and helicopters including Multi-Engine Command Instrument Ratings on both types.
The Gold Coast base is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the southern hemisphere while the company reaches as far as the United Kingdom, Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates.
Airways Aviation has been the premium supplier of pilot training for more than 30 years and boasts aircraft with single and multi-engine piston and turbine for both aeroplanes and helicopters.
Business Development Manager Aaron McDonald said Airways Aviation was postured to provide domestic and international students a competitive edge on the global stage where demand for quality commercial pilots is rapidly increasing.
“Training is carried out to the highest international standards and using equipment and aircrafts that often far exceed industry standard and client expectations,” Mr McDonald said.
“The students benefit from a large alumni, management with strong international experience, professional trainers and instructors, state of the art facilities and a strong association with the industry and community.”
