Quality Training Systems Announces Completion of Turnkey NERC PER-005 Training Development Project
The purpose of the NERC PER-005 standard is to ensure that System Operators performing real-time, reliability-related tasks on the North American Bulk Electric System (BES) are competent to perform those reliability related tasks. It requires the implementation of a Systematic Approach to Training.
Rusty York, Lead WPM Trainer for PNM, stated, “We are pleased to implement a comprehensive training program customized to our needs. Through this project, we are able to train and qualify the next generation of operators in compliance with the federal requirement.”
Stefanie Pressl, Executive Vice President for QTS, commented, “Affected power companies in the United States were required to be compliant with the PER-005 standard on or before April 1, 2013. Instead of stopping at minimal compliance with the standard, PNM had the foresight and commitment to operator training to develop a full training program so it is ready to provide fully compliant initial training to new hires immediately. We are very pleased to have been able to expand our relationship with PNM by providing these important services, which are part of QTS’ core strengths.”
