FDF response to latest FSA meat testing data

Back to list of articles

Meat testing data published by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) today includes information submitted by FDF[1]. The data incorporates the results of industry testing of beef products for the presence of horsemeat at or above the level of 1%.

The industry is continuing its extensive meat testing programme to reassure consumers about the integrity of its products. FDF continues to work with government, FSA and others in the food supply chain to learn the lessons of this incident and minimise the risk of food fraud in the supply chain.

FDF has also published a guide, 'Food Authenticity: Five steps to help protect your business from food fraud' (pdf, 576), which sets out a step-by-step process to help food and drink manufacturing businesses of all sizes protect their businesses from food fraud by helping them to identify, prioritise and manage upstream supply chain authenticity risks.
