Detainees's wives in Sudan start hunger strike
Sandra Faroug Kudoda, wife of Dr. Amjed Fareed al-Tayeb, detained last September, starts hunger strike today.
KHARTOUM, KHARTOUM, SUDAN, October 21, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Detainees's wives in Sudan start today hunger strike demanding their immediate release. Sandra Faroug Kudoda, wife of Dr. Amjed Fareed al-Tayeb, detained last September during the popular uprising protesting fuel price increases, announced today that she is starting a hunger strike until authorities release her husband, a medical doctor, and his fellow detainees. Sudan security forces rounded up more than a thousand activists and detained them under very harsh conditions in prisons all over the country, especially in the notorious Cooper prison in Khartoum North. More than 200 young demonstrators were shot dead where lethal force was used against peaceful protestors who took to the streets objecting to lifting state subsidies from fuel and other necessary commodities. The following is Sandra's declaration:أنا ساندرا فاروق كُدوده زوجة المعتقل أمجد فريد الطيب أبدا اليوم (21.10.2013) إضرابي عن الطعام تضامنا مع زوجي وبقية المعتقلين السودانيين وأطالب بالإفراج عنهم.
I, Sandra Faroug Kodouda, am beginning my hunger strike today(21/10/2013)in solidarity with my husband Dr Amjed Fareed al-Tayeb, and the rest of other Sudanese detainees and I demand their immediate and unconditional release.
