Lighting for Artwork: Gorgeous, Affordable AND Customized? Yes!
for a custom made lamp and actually be able to afford the price.
VT, VERMONT, USA, September 26, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Custom lighting for artwork? Most people wouldn’t imagine that they could ask for a custom made lamp and actually be able to afford the price. Every day I work with clients, and most of them are just ordering a single lamp, a special lamp that will set their artwork off just right. For almost 20 years I’ve been advising clients on how to choose from House of Troy’s incredibly deep selection of picture lighting for artwork. Because House of Troy makes over 300 different picture lights most people can find the perfect picture light they’ve been hoping for right in the stock selection. But occasionally someone needs something that isn’t generally offered. And that’s where I come in. I’m writing here to let you know a little about the process of designing custom lighting for artwork, and to invite you to contact me to explore whether a custom lamp might be the right art lighting option for you. What Can Be Customized? Different aspects of different lamps can be customized. Not everything is possible, but many people are surprised at what is possible. Some lamps, like the SL styles (Slim Line) can come in alternative custom sizes that are not the stock sizes. For example I had a customer who had a painting too big for an SL40 size (40” shade), but not big enough for a SL64 (64” shade). He needed more like a 50” shade. He also needed lighting for artwork with customized mounting arms that went outward an additional 4” from the back of the frame (his frame was an antique oak ornately carved and projected over 6 inches outward from the painting itself; the arms had to be lengthened to prevent frame shadows falling on the artwork. Additionally he wanted a custom finish that was not ordinarily offered for the slim line stock finishes, a #81 finish called mahogany bronze which worked incredibly well with the dark antique oak frame. So in this case the customer got a custom size, a custom finish, and custom mounting arms.
This is a DT36-61, a direct wire, 36” shade in polished brass. But what if you wanted it in House of Troy’s special gold painted finish? Or the unusually chocolate #5 Bronze painted finish? This is an example of the #5 Bronze painted finish. Call me to see what I can do!
What Else Can Be Customized? I have had customers get different sizes and shapes of back plates for direct wire style lights. I have had customers use mounting arms from one style and shades from another style. I have had customers who just wanted extra-long cords, or extra short cords or brown cords instead of cream colored cords, or cords with the click switch closer to the lamp or closer to the plug end. I’ve had customers who needed custom lighting for artwork because they were building the lights into concrete ceilings, and they needed those lamps built with the shades directional to aiming from above rather than the side.
