Major regulatory changes are set to radically affect the energy trading industry.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, July 22, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- In a bid to improve market transparency, The European Commission has set about implementing legislative procedures to increase regulation for commodity and energy trading services. Legislation includes the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (Emir), the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II and Regulation (Mifid and Mifir), and the Regulation on Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (Remit).

These regulatory changes impose a significant burden on firms, particularly financially. Companies need to ensure that they meet the new regulatory requirements and are better prepared than their competitors for the future. The surest way to do this, is to attend The European Energy Trading Summit which focuses on connecting the leading minds from across Europe to share ideas on the short and medium term strategies for Gas and Power trading.

This two-day event will allow energy trading businesses to strengthen industry ties, seek out new investment opportunities and discuss short- and medium-term strategies for Gas and Power trading, by bringing together Heads of Trading, Traders, Regulators, TSOs, Analysts and Trade Associations. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend a Conference, panel discussions, and a 40 booth interactive exhibition in addition to hearing keynote speakers address the most topical issues including European Energy Regulation, European Energy Trading Outlook, Market Coupling, the impact of renewable energy. News of the latest opportunities, as well as case studies of Iberia, Italy, CEE and Turkey, amongst others, will also be available. A Business Match-Making Service is on offer to aid networking.

Andrea Siri, Head of Trading SEE, Edison Trading S.P.A Member of EFET board, Chairman TF Italy EFET, Member of EEX Council; Olivia Hartridge, Vice President, Morgan Stanley; Alex Barnes, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Gazprom Marketing & Trading Limited, and Dr Lawrence Haar, Director Trading Risk Management – Commodities, Unicredit Bank AG-London Branch, are just some of the industry experts that will be speaking at the event.
