vsRisk™ chosen as information security risk assessment tool new ISO 27005 for course

/EINPresswire.com/ Vigilant Software, the risk management solutions provider, is delighted to announce that its vsRisk information security risk assessment tool has been chosen by the International Board for IT Governance Qualifications (IBITGQ) as the tool of choice for their new ISO 27005 Certified ISMS Risk Management course.

Already established as a teaching aid in many leading universities, vsRisk is an ideal tool for anyone wishing to carry out a thorough, automated and repeatable risk assessment of their organisation’s key business assets.

vsRisk provides users with an auditable ISMS (Information Security Management System) that follows the best practice guidelines set out in ISO 27005, the international standard that provides guidelines for effective information security risk management, fully meeting the requirements of ISO 27001.

Alan Calder, cyber security expert and CEO of Vigilant Software, says “The decision by IBITGQ to use vsRisk in its new course further underlines both the business value and ease-of-use of vsRisk.”

Calder continues, “The new PwC Information Security Breaches Survey revealed that 1 in 5 organisations haven’t carried out any form of risk assessment. With the survey also indicating that both the frequency and sophistication of security breaches are increasing for both large and small organisations, the lack of a risk assessment is inexcusable with tools like vsRisk available to automate and ease the process.”

A new version of vsRisk was released at Infosecurity Europe last week. vsRisk 1.7 features huge improvements to the assessment process, allowing you to select multiple threats, vulnerabilities and controls from a single drop down menu, saving time and improving efficiency.

The IBITGQ course, delivered for the first time by accredited training organisation IT Governance Ltd is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills required to undertake information security risk management based on the best practice guidance as outlined in ISO 27005 and fully meeting the requirements of the ISO 27001 standard.

Delegates who successfully complete this Advanced Level course will be awarded the Certified ISMS Risk Management (CIS RM) qualification issued by IBITGQ.
