Indian government announce the setting up of a National Cyber Security Architecture
/EINPresswire.com/ The Indian government has announced that they are in the process of setting up a National Cyber Security Architecture with the aim of preventing sabotage, espionage and other forms of cyber-attacks on the country.
Shivshankar Menon, Indian National Security Advisor, says, "The National Security Council has approved the architecture in principle and we are working out the implementation details with the ministries and agencies concerned, which we hope to take to cabinet for approval soon."
The architecture, which has been approved by the Indian National Security Council is set to protect critical information, infrastructure and other networks. The cyber security architecture will include the monitoring and certification of India's networks by selected agencies and bodies.
Alan Calder, CEO of cyber security experts IT Governance, says, “Cybersecurity is a term directly associated with the internet, and the underpinning information communication technologies (ICT) and the networks to which the internet connects. In order to be cyber secure Indian organisations need to take into account both technology and management systems. The guidance as to how to do this most efficiently is provided by the international cyber security standard ISO27001.
Calder adds, “Ensuring that an organisation’s IT systems and processes are resilient against outside attack is a key principle underlining the ISO27001 standard. The Indian Government’s move to set up a national cyber security architecture is further commitment to ensuring the protection of data through developing infrastructure, legislation and best practice.”
IT Governance offer a range of ISO27001 books, guides and tools which are available to organisations in India through www.itgovernanceasia.com. Additional information on ISO27001 is available through an IT Governance ISO27001 and information security white paper that can be downloaded from www.itgovernanceasia.com/t-iso27001.aspx.
