FASD United is the leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and supporting individuals and families affected by prenatal alcohol or substance exposure, including NAS and NOWS. Founded in 1990 as the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS), the organization rebranded to FASD United in 2021 to reflect its broadened mission and inclusive approach. FASD United empowers people living with FASD and prenatal substance exposure to educate systems of care and the public, enact policies, and unite communities everywhere. Through its comprehensive programs, FASD United offers resources such as the Family Navigator for personalized support, the Circle of Hope peer mentoring network for birth mothers, and the Justice Center, which provides legal guidance and advocacy. The organization is also a key advocate for policy change, having played a pivotal role in the introduction of the bipartisan FASD Respect Act, aimed at enhancing federal support for FASD prevention, diagnosis, and services. FASD United's efforts extend to public awareness campaigns, professional training, and community engagement initiatives, all designed to reduce stigma and promote understanding of FASD. With a network of 48 affiliates across the United States, FASD United continues to lead the charge in addressing the challenges of FASD through education, support, and advocacy.
