DOE, NREL Launch Interactive Map for Utility Customers

Date: 6/5/2012

As part of the Open Energy Information (OpenEI) project, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have launched the Utility Data Access Map, an online tool that enables customers in the United States to search for data from their U.S. electric utilities. These data can help consumers make informed decisions about energy efficiency measures to save money. The tool is an interactive Web platform that provides "crowd-sourced" maps in user-friendly formats based on information gathered from electricity providers nationwide. OpenEI is sponsored by DOE and developed by NREL in support of the Open Government Initiative to make energy data transparent, participatory, and collaborative.
