Goodfellow AFB Welcomes CMSgt. Fleck
U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Colin Fleck, Second Air Force command chief, toured the 17th Training Wing to provide leadership insight and address current infrastructure capabilities and requirements needed for training modernization, Oct. 14-15.
Fleck spent his first day touring student and permanent party dormitories to understand the living conditions of service members stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base, highlighting his interest in addressing infrastructure concerns across the installation. Fleck met with cadre and leadership to discuss facility constraints and the 17th Training Group’s ever-growing mission of providing the Department of War with intelligence warriors and fire-protection professionals.
Fleck also visited the Louis F. Garland Department of War Fire Academy and saw firsthand the training firefighters receive to prepare for emergency response operations. He visited the Joint All-Domain Expeditionary Forward Operations Readiness Generation Exercise (JADE FORGE) training grounds briefing at the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) training campus immersion. Fleck gained the insight needed to advocate for the 17th TRW’s training modernization needs at the highest levels of military leadership, particularly regarding infrastructure capabilities and limitations.
During the Military Training Leader all-call, Fleck connected with MTLs, Noncommissioned Officers and Senior Noncommissioned Officers, offering first-hand perspective from 2nd AF leadership on the continued collaboration between training and senior leadership, which remains essential to modernizing infrastructure, advancing instructional capabilities and preparing mission-ready Airmen.
