A day in the life at McConnell
MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. – Wing leadership at McConnell Air Force Base is slated to visit Airmen in their workspaces once a month following a new “Day in the Life” series, which started Sept. 25.
This initiative deepens the connection with the Airmen and civilians making the mission happen.
“Connecting our Airmen to the overall mission of the Wing is the most important thing we can do as leaders,” said Col. Joe Wall, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander. “There is no better way to be able to do that than seeing our fantastic Airmen and civilians in their work spaces absolutely crushing their jobs.”
Wall and Chief Master Sgt. Mark Covington, 22nd ARW command chief, will continue to grow closer to the Airmen they lead by taking time out of their schedules to learn about their daily operations and the people they are.
“They are the best at what they do,” said Wall. “I’m so honored to be able to spend time with our great American Airmen. I appreciate everything they do for Team McConnell.”
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Jessy Soriano, 22nd Medical Group noncommissioned officer in charge of medical maintenance, was the first Airman highlighted as she performed inspection checks on defibrillators.
“I feel honored to be recognized in front of Wing leadership,” said Soriano. “I’m proud of my work and I’m thankful to show what we do here.”
Soriano demonstrated a typical day in the life of medical maintenance, performing checks on equipment and ensuring they are mission ready at all times. Soriano also shared about her upbringing, why she joined the Air Force and her future professional and personal goals that inspire her to get after the mission.
Wall and Covington are slated to visit different squadrons every month through 2027.
